The Fair Housing Act

The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability. Additional protections may apply under New Jersey state law.

New Jersey Law Against Discrimination

The New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (NJLAD) provides additional protections beyond federal law, including protections based on sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, domestic partnership or civil union status, source of lawful income, and other characteristics.
